Quick Start For Retail Sales

Step 1 of 10

Once MeatBooks has opened click the ‘Inventory’ button on the top tool bar.

Step 2 of 10

When the Inventory screen comes up click on the ‘Add New Item’ button on the bottom left hand side of the screen.

Step 3 of 10

To setup your retail item you want to fill in your item description, resale price, item unit, charge method, and barcode information. If you are unsure if what to put in as a product id use the inventory id on the very top of the panel, you may need to enter one or two zeros before the inventory id to make it a product id (product id’s must be five digits). For more information on barcodes see ‘Barcode Help’ (Ron you have this revision of my old one right?)

Step 4 of 10

On the right hand side of the ‘Add New Item’ panel you’ll want to set your tax information up. If the item is taxable click the ‘ Tax Code’ button and verify your setting. Don’t forget to check the item as taxable above the recipe drop down box. After you have entered all of your information click ‘Save & Close’.

Step 5 of 10

Click the ‘General Sale’ button on the top tool bar if you wish to make a cash customer sale. If you want to do retail transactions for a specific customer click ‘Customers’ then the individual. You will see a ‘New General Sale For This Customer’ button on the bottom left hand side of the screen.

Step 6 of 10

If you have your barcodes configured correctly you can press the ‘Start Scanning’ button and scan your items.

Step 7 of 10

If you don’t have barcodes configured click in the blank box right below the item description field and three dots will show up; click those dots to get a list of your inventory items. Pick and item or use the boxes to the left to narrow your search field; click ‘OK’.

Step 8 of 10

Enter the quantity in pounds that the item is and click ‘OK’.

Step 9 of 10

Your item appears in the grid. If you wish to add more item repeat steps 7 and 8 until you have all your items entered. At the left hand side of the screen you will see a ‘Check Out’ button, click that.

Step 10 of 10

Select the payment type and then verify the amount in the box on the right hand side of the panel. If the person for example give you five dollars for the three dollars and eight cents that are due on this transaction highlight the amount and just type 5.00 over it. Click ‘Done’ and invoice will come up.
