Quick Start For The Custom Processor

Step 1 of 10

Once MeatBooks has opened click the ‘Tools & Setting’ button on the top tool bar.

Step 2 of 10

When ‘Tools & Settings’ comes up click ‘Animals And Sections’ on the lower Settings Panel.

Step 3 of 10

MeatBooks will already have a few animals setup as examples for you to reference. I will take you though the process of adding a new animal. First click ‘Add New Animal’ on the top panel; a blank line will appear in the grid to the right. Click inside the box and type the name of the animal you want to setup.

Step 4 of 10

Any comments you would like to show up on every invoice for this animal should be put in ‘Invoice Comments’ the same can be said for ‘Cut Instr. Comments’ will show up on every cutting instruction.

Step 5 of 10

Next click the ‘Head Types’ button and the panel below will appear. Click the ‘Add New Head Type’ button on the bottom of the panel and a blank line will appear just like it did when we entered an animal. Click inside the box and type a head description, you can hit the tab key on your keyboard to move to the ‘Head Fee’ box and ‘Processing Fee’ box. When you have entered all head types click the ‘Done’ button on the bottom right hand side of the panel.

Step 6 of 10

Next move down to the Sections panel and click ‘Add Section’ and follow the same steps to fill in the description. One thing to think about is how you want to name your sections. Do you want to name the sections loin or chuck or just have one section called cuts? The biggest difference will be how you select cuts while you are in a cutting instruction.

(See below image)

Step 7 of 10

The last step on this screen is to click the ‘Cuts’ button on animal panel on the right hand side.

Step 8 of 10

When the cuts screen loads follow the steps above the grid then click the ‘Add Cut’ button on the bottom left hand side of the screen.

Step 9 of 10

The add cut panel will come up; now there are a lot of items to fill out on this panel but lets just focus on a few for now. First fill in the cut description (example: chuck roast) and then hit the tab key on your keyboard and fill in the price (example: .40 for 40 cents). The last thing is to selection how you would like to charge for this cut; click on the ‘Charge By’ drop down box and select one of the options. If you have labels that you would like to charge for you can enter a new cut called ‘labels’ and select ‘charge by pound’, if you have the price per label in the price box MeatBooks can add this to your cutting instructions as a charge.

Step 10 of 10

Click ‘Save & Close’ at the bottom of the screen and now you have completed the process for entering animals, sections, and cuts for MeatBooks. Remember to take your time and think about how you want things setup; MeatBooks is a very dynamic program. If you give your customers a lower price if they bring in three cattle for slaughter at a time create an animal called ‘Three Beefs’ with the lower processing charge. A little time planning here will make day to day business flow a lot better.
